Heart of Darkness

Anyone remember this gem from the PS1 days? I’ve never played it, but I discovered it while researching some old games.

Heart of Darkness came out in 1998 and was developed by Amazing Studio. It was published by Interplay (the folks who made Fallout a year earlier). The following video shows some gameplay, and I’m noticing some nice details for a low-budget 1998 PS1 title.

Nice shadows and animations, yeah? Not to mention GREAT use of pre-rendered backgrounds. It’s interesting – this game reminds me of a few “indie” games that have come out in the past 2 or 3 years, particularly Limbo. I suppose inspiration comes from the most unlikely places. Or not. Actually, if anyone can find a link to where Arnt Jensen talks about his inspiration for Limbo, do share.

Check out this thread for more obscure PS1 game goodness.
